I designed a new roof rack for the Mazda, mx5 or Eunos, Miata roadster. I have shown pictures of it carrying a Kayak, surf board, push bike. It might even carry a light boat on top of the soft top roof.
I have designed a new type of rack for the boot on my Eunos Miata, Mazda Mx5. I have made it so it can have any roof rack from the major manufacturers

Thule, Saris, Atera, Halfords etc. Any roof rack that has a 25mm fitting will be able to fit on the rack.
I want it to carry bikes, Mountain bikes, Road bikes, Surf boards, Windsurf boards, Canoes, Kayaks etc.
It is only for looks and to test the design prototype. If I was to make one then I would fix to the car which would be stronger than straps or other designs. The actual metal used is not strong enough for a production run. It was more against the uses that it has. For instance windsurf boards or canoes. I have seen some people comment that they want to carry them to the beach. These are prototype models.

I like the design, I would like to use it for transporting my ww kayak for a run, my car is exactly like the one pictured with a spoiler, gets me thinking about how to make it happen on my own.
Taking a closer look at it and doing a quick think about it, if you were to design a rack that connected like a hard top, sliding onto the Frankenstein bolts, clamping down on the sides and windshield then it would be strong enough I think. One problem would be if it started to rain later in the day you would not be able to put the top up when heading home? I will let you know what I come up with in the next couple of months.
Wendell, thanks for your mail. I only have a prototype model and have not made it into production yet. I wanted to see what reaction and how many people would like to buy.
I made the design so that the top can go up or down with 0ut hitting the roof rack. It was only a design and not put into production. I have had a few people say its good. Thanks
the bike doesn’t look stable

Do you have this rack for sale. Need one for my paddle board? Thanks, Wendell

I’d buy one of these. They look great.
I would LOVE to buy one of these!
I would be interested in purchasing one of these for my surfboard. Let me know if you are selling them and for how much. Thanks
I’d buy it for my kayak!
Very interested. Make sure this works for my convertible rx7. Id buy in a heartbeat.
Do you have to have the top down? What if it starts to rain while you are transporting??

Please let me know if you are selling these racks. I’ve been using my race miata roll bar but this looks better.
Phil
Phil thanks for the enquiry. I never made a rack for the market. Only a prototype. Vincenzo
Phil, sorry I only received a handful of orders so it was not enough to start production.
If you do end up making these I would buy one!! Maybe a gofundme or kickstarter campaign directed to the miata community could get you started 🙂
